Research interest  

Dr. Luojun Du’s research focuses on discovering and understanding novel quantum phenomena in 2D materials and their vdW heterostructures on the basis of symmetry breaking, including but not limited to:

1) Exotic electrical, optical, magnetic and topological properties of 2D materials originating from their underlying symmetry breaking, e.g., bulk photogalvanic effect, nonlinear Hall effects, valley-vontrasting physics and 2D antiferromagnetism.

2) Engineering symmetry breaking of 2D materials and further exploring the coupling between different symmetry breaking (e.g., the coupling between spatial inversion symmetry breaking and time reversal symmetry breaking).

3) Moiré superlattices, e.g., moiré exciton, moiré phonon and various strongly correlated physics.
